The ship limit is defined by a maximum number of ship slots. By default, each player has 100 slots available. When the slots are full then no more ships or space stations can be built or bought. Slots are needed for every ship and station you own, as well for any unmanned space vehicles such as phaser guns, Type-A missiles, or probes.
The slot system
There are many different classes of ship which all occupy different amounts of slots . The more powerful a military ship is (in terms of phaser strength, number of torpedo banks, hull, shields, etc.), the more slots it requires. The same is true of civilian ships, but in their case the number of slots has more to do with cargo capacity, energy storage, whether the ship has replicators, and so on.
When a ship is dismantled or destroyed, the slots that it occupied become free again and you can build a replacement vessel or vessels.
Space stations
These count as ships, as indicated by the fact that they also use up ship slots . The smallest station is the Depot which requires 7 slots . For more details about space stations click the button below.
Increases in the maximum ship limit of 10 slots at a time can be purchased with [Credits] from your virtual account . The first increase of 10 slots costs 1,000 credits and the price of each subsequent 10-slot increase goes up by 300 credits, so it costs 1,300 credits for the 2nd increase of 10 slots , etc. Credits from destroying Vadwaur probes can be beamed into your Ferengi storage account and then transferred to your virtual player's account - but not vice versa.
