A "First-Step-Manager" (Shortened to FSM) is a trusted player, who will help a less experienced player through the initial stages. FSMs answer questions about the game in a timely manner and give helpful advice. An FSM can also access the account of his or her "First Step Student," to inspect progress and see if the FSS needs help. He does not need a password to do this, and an FSM should never ask or be given a student's password. If a student wishes, he can disable this option in the settings under "First Step Manager" in the help menu. He can terminate the cooperation with the FSM at any time, and may choose to take another FSM instead.
You'll see a list of all currently free First Step managers who want to help you. You may view the message (if the FSM has left one) from each first-step-manager, and his recent successes and ratings.
You may wish to choose your first step manager based on several criterion: more peaceful vs. more combative (such as a pirate) to match the style of play you wish. Or you might want to ask others about the Manager's track record to see whether you can expect an extensive implementation and support or not. Top
