"Space Trek: The New Empire" (STNE) is a round-based online game. This means, that consumption and production of resources and energy is based on rounds (called Ticks), even spaceships can fly only a limited number of fields in each round. The access to the game is slowed down a bit during the round change.
Tick times (Tick-changes)
take place 5-times daily:
- 12:00 p.m.
- 15:00 p.m.
- 18:00 p.m.
- 21:00 p.m.
- 23:30 p.m.

The "tick changes" last about 10 minutes:at this time consumption and production on colonies and energy production on ships are calculated. At the same time, all database are refreshed, because STNE administrates all data in databases:
All ship crews consume food (each 5 people = 1 food),
all ship reactors produce new energy out of stored deuterium or plasma or the warpcore on board,
Engines as well as "over heated" phasers and torpedo lunch pads cool down,
The shipyards will continue to build or finish ordered ships.
All citizens of the colony consume food (each 5 people = 1 food),
On the colonies every type of power plant , solar complexes, reactors, warp cores and solar satellites produce new energy,
All buildings on colonies and in orbit consume and/or produce its resource
started buildings are build on or made up,
startd [terraformings] (Transformation of terrain) will be carried out or completed,
ordered research will advance or complete.
Your Reputation within your empire or across the Delta Quadrant rises - or falls.,
[Inactivity Liquidation] is executed,
[Tick-Reports] are made up for every settler.
The tick changes have been revised - the calculations now run like a
"temporary wave" :
- now there are no separate ship - and colony ticks, instead a "Galaxy-Tick",
- Ships and colonies are not calculated separately but by coordinates from bottom to top (on y-axis),
- Ships can't fly into the area already calculated and the other way round,
- the tick was divided into separate tasks which are executed parallel
- every task can start further tasks if the needed sub-tasks are completed,
- while the tick-change the game is not blocked.
What exactly happens on your colonies and ships while a "tick-change", can be found in the STNE-Main menu under "Database" --> "My tick reports". These reports are only available for one week and will be deleted after this time in order to take away useless info from the database.
Each 15 minutes before a tick-change takes place the STNE-Software is restarted (NOT the Server!), to avoid breakdowns while calculation. In this time (about 2 minutes) the game takes a break without shutting off and continues without problems.
